Make Your Own Sunscreen Workshop
The Environment Committee of 50 Ways Rockbridge is hosting a class for learning how to make your own sunscreen with natural, organic ingredients. Our teacher, Chin Velasquez, is a local herbalist and owner of Soothing Herbals Apothecary.
Most commercial sunscreen brands’ active ingredient is oxybenzone, a toxic chemical which harms our bodies as well as the environment, specifically coral reefs. Avoid using products with harmful ingredients by joining this class, and learning to make your own.
This class will be held Saturday, August 12th from 1:00-4:00 at Lexington Presbyterian Church. The cost is $35.00 per person. This covers the time of our teacher, a take-home 2oz jar of natural sunscreen, and a recipe for making more on your own at home.
To sign up contact Gretchen Sukow (540-817-5340 or firstname.lastname@example.org). Join 50 Ways Rockbridge for beer and political action tonight (and every Monday) at the Devil’s Backbone Outpost from 5-7 PM.
Now that the sunny weather is here, we’ll be out in the beer garden. Grab a pint and come find us–just look for the “Resist” sign. The Outpost doesn’t serve food, but you can bring a snack or some dinner with you if you want some food with your beer.
Bring a snack or some dinner, bring your kids, your parents and your neighbors, bring your ideas for good government and stronger community. Whether you’re in need of moral support or have some extra to give, we hope you’ll join us.
