Charlottesville Indivisible is staging a March for Truth concurrently with the Washington march on June 3, for those who would like to attend a march closer to home. We’d like to extend an invitation to area groups to join us.

The march will begin at 11:00am on June 3. The link is below, followed by the event details.

You deserve to know the truth. On June 3, demand that your elected officials investigate the links between the Trump team and Russia. The stakes of this could not be higher. They strike at the very heart of our national security and the integrity of our democratic system. Make no mistake: the appointment of a special prosecutor is a big deal–one that indicates the magnitude of of the problem. But special prosecutors work slowly and in private. As citizens, we demand oversight of the presidency from our representatives in Congress. Come tell them that we want answers.”

“*Note: By choosing to attend this event, you are acknowledging the risks involved, and you are committing to participate nonviolently and in accordance with the law, and to work to de-escalate confrontations with opposing persons or others. You agree (i) not to engage in any act of violence or violation of any applicable law and (ii) to obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities.”

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see you on June 3, if this isn’t terribly short notice…

We plan to be in Hopkins Green Park on June 17th, and in the event of rain, we will be in Lexington Presbyterian’s Dunlap Auditorium, located at 120 South Main Street. Please access this great space from the back entrance of the church on Randolph Street! Come and celebrate our earth with us!

Activities for the kids will include making “seed bombs” for butterfly and bird-attracting gardens, a children’s Earth Day Parade around Hopkin’s Green and a free after-dark animated movie of “The Lorax” starting around 8:30 pm, bring blankets to sit on! Everyone will have the opportunity to learn about solar power, native planting for residences and how to measure and reduce the family’s carbon footprint. We will have exhibits on bees, birds, solar, water, local organic gardening and our farmer’s market. We will also have information on hiking clubs, Friends of the Chessie Trail and the Rockbridge Area Conservation Council (RACC). Local musicians will be playing acoustic music!
